SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT:

Domino Voted For Parental Notification

HJR 1, which called for Parental Notification before minors choose to have abortions, passed in the Florida House 93 to 24. State Rep. Carl Domino voted Yes on this bill.

Now, opponent Ellyn Bogdanoff would have you believe otherwise. State Rep. Carl Domino did oppose bills that had no judicial bypass, as these bills would be rendered as unconstitutional.

Courts have ruled that parental notification without judicial bypass would be unconstitutional. So had these versions passed, they would have been stricken allowing for abortions to be performed without parental involvement.

The HJR 1, which Rep. Domino supported, was approved by voters and is now part of the Florida Constitution.

As a Roman Catholic, Carl has always recognized the sanctity of life and repeatedly declared his personal opposition to abortion.

His opponent, Rep. Bogdanoff, has a spotty record in protecting life.

How many times have you read a newspaper account of a life lost to an auto driver that was distracted by texting? This year, Florida’s State Senate moved to ban this dangerous practice. Bogdanoff, famously referred to as the “Angel of Death,” by U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio, gleefully told the press that she would not allow the bill to be heard in the Florida House. She was Chair of a council to which it had been referred. On matters of conscience, Rep. Bogdanoff’s actions and words speak loudly.

The record speaks for itself. Carl Domino has worked hard to see that Parental Notification laws were both effective and constitutional.

PALM BEACH GARDENS – The Carl Domino campaign is proud to announce its endorsement given by Florida’s Former Republican Governor, Claude Kirk, for Carl Domino’s State Senate candidacy.

Claude R. Kirk, Jr. served as the 36th governor of Florida, and was the first Republican to serve as governor since 1877. This is the first endorsement given by Gov. Claude Kirk in a state Republican primary.

“I’m pleased to publicly announce my support and endorsement of Carl Domino for Florida’s State Senate District 25,” announced Governor Kirk at a recent campaign event. “Carl Domino has worked hard both in his personal and business life, as well as serving the State of Florida as a State Representative.”

“Carl has accomplished what few are able to during the years he has served, standing up for the taxpayers and demonstrating strong fiscal responsibility with his idea of ‘Portability’,” Governor Kirk adds. “Additionally, as a fellow veteran, I thank him and his father for their great service to this country in the United States military.”

“It would be difficult to fully articulate how honored I am to receive the endorsement of one of Florida’s greatest political leaders,” responds Rep. Carl Domino. “Governor Kirk was the pioneer that gave hope to aspiring politicians throughout the states that Republican values of patriotism, smaller government, lower taxes, and a belief in free markets could be a rallying cry for electoral success.”

“Both as an elected official and in business his charm, energy, honesty, and intellect made him extremely successful and provided high standards for those who hope to follow in his footsteps,” adds Domino.

Domino First to Qualify in Republican Primary:
Cites Widespread Grassroots Support as Key to Victory

PALM BEACH GARDENS – The Domino Campaign announced today that it has turned in over 3,000 signed and verified petitions to two County Supervisors of Elections and has qualified for the August Republican Primary Ballot. Carl Domino is the first candidate to qualify by petition for the State Senate race in District 25 to succeed Jeff Atwater in the State Senate.

Carl Domino submitted over 1,000 verified signed petitions from Republican voters in Broward County, and over 2,000 verified and signed petitions from Republican voters in Palm Beach County.

“Our campaign has been focused solely on garnering local community support throughout every corner of the District,” Domino said. “My wife Sharon, and our twins, Reagan and Mason, are humbled to receive such a large vote of confidence from thousands of Republican voters in Broward and Palm Beach Counties.”

By qualifying by petition, the Domino Campaign does not have to pay the candidate filing fee to be on the ballot, thus saving thousands of dollars for his campaign.

“This outpouring of support reflects directly Republican voters’ desire to elect public officials who are conservative, effective, and adhere to the highest ethical standards,” Domino stated. “Thousands of Republicans have responded positively to our campaign’s message of creating jobs, reducing taxes and exposing government waste and corruption.”

“On August 24th, Republican voters in this seat are going to make a very important choice in who they want to succeed Senator Jeff Atwater, my former Tallahassee roommate,” Domino added. “Today’s results are a good indicator that Republican voters are seeking candidates who have produced real results, not promised them.”

Rep. Domino wants Wyndcrest’s $20 million payment for Port St. Lucie animation studio nullified

By Michael C. Bender Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

Updated: 9:13 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009

TALLAHASSEE — Florida lawmakers should nullify a $20 million deal if they return to the Capitol next month for an expected special session, state Rep. Carl Domino, R-Jupiter, said today in a letter to House Speaker Larry Cretul.

Meanwhile, Sen. Mike Bennett, R-Bradenton, has requested Attorney General Bill McCollum investigate what he said was a “misrepresentation of the facts” from the company in line to receive the money. Bennett also asked the Joint Legislative Auditing Committee to “review the financial soundness” of the transaction.

John Textor, the owner and CEO of the company, Wyndcrest Holdings of Hobe Sound, declined to comment about Domino’s and Bennett’s requests.

Wyndcrest was approved for a $20 million economic incentive package this summer by Crist’s Office of Transportation, Technology and Economic Development. The company is also seeking a deal from Port St. Lucie that includes $10 million cash, 15 acres of land for a building and some federal stimulus money from the city and St. Lucie County.

In return, the company, which hopes to create animated movies and video games, is promising to create 500 jobs in Port St. Lucie with an average wage of $64,233 by Dec. 31, 2014.

Crist’s office approved the deal after lawmakers inserted language in the budget removing a needed review of the project by Enterprise Florida. Enterprise Florida had earlier recommended a smaller incentive package – $11.4 million in return for 300 jobs – but the company needed more money after the project expanded, Textor has said.

But Bennett questioned the company’s ability to create jobs, pointing to the December bankruptcy filing of Parent Co., when Textor was the company’s vice chairman. Textor has said he had little to do with the downfall of that company.

In an interview, Bennett said he supported the Wyndcrest deal when he thought it would be located in Sarasota County. Textor did consider locating in Sarasota, but said no promises were made.

Bennett also said his support was based on his understanding that the money was for Digital Domain, an award-winning company that has worked on animation for several movies.

Wyndcrest is Digital Domain’s parent company and is expected to expand into full-length feature films.

Domino also has a history with Textor. Domino lost money in an investment with Textor about 10 years ago, but insists it has nothing to do with his opposition to the payment to Textor’s company. Domino has written to Crist asking him to stop payment on the $20 million.

Domino, in his letter Wednesday, also said the company may have violated state lobbying rules. Textor visited with several lawmakers about his proposal, but says he never hired a lobbyist.

A spokeswoman for Cretul said Wednesday that he has not yet agreed to a special session. Senate President Jeff Atwater and Crist are pushing for a special session next month so lawmakers can approve a deal for a Central Florida passenger railroad line.
